Getting involved in your local ACHE Chapter can mean personal and professional fulfillment from giving back to one's profession, greater visibility, enhanced networking, career development, and opportunities to exercise/hone leadership skills. You can achieve these objectives by volunteering on a NCHE Committee. Whatever amount of time or talent you have to give, it will be warmly received.
Program Committee. As a standing committee, the Program Committee actively seeks speakers for the monthly education and other unique programs offered by NCHE as well as on-site programs of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE).
Operations Committee. The Operations Committee are those individuals "behind the scenes who coordinate all preparations for our monthly education and networking programs offered by NCHE. This includes such activities as working with hotels, coordinating meeting requirements, and receiving attendees. Without them, it simply wouldn't happen.
Membership Committee. The Membership Committee coordinates with the Board of Directors in planning and organizing all membership activities. This Committee also provides direction and support to related Committees that are focused on Recruitment, Advancement and Awards (Information on these three is listed below).
Recruitment Committee. The Recruitment Committee is a vital part of the NCHE Membership Committee. The Recruitment Committee coordinates with the Membership Committee in the recruitment of new members both for NCHE and ACHE.
Advancement Committee. The Advancement Committee is also a vital part of the Membership Committee. The primary function is to assist those ACHE members who desire to advance to Fellow.
Awards Committee. This committee annually seeks nominations from NCHE members to recognize healthcare executives of exceptional merit and recommends recipients for the Healthcare Executive Award, Healthcare Mentorship Award, and the Most Valuable Board Member Award.
Scholarship Committee. This commitee, in collaboration with the Student Committee, annually seeks and awards a NCHE scholarship to one or more students who meet eligibility criteria.
Marketing and Communications Committee. This group supports board and membership through creating and meantaining the NCHE website and printed marketing materials, and by coordinating with contracted support for website maintenance and marketing activities.
Student Committee. The Student Committee is comprised of appointed student leaders and volunteers from local graduate and undergraduate programs in health care administration. Its conducts NCHE's highly popular Annual CEO Roundtable and other NCHE events and activities that give them opportunties to exercise their leadership skills in helping NCHE address the future career needs of students.
Sponsor Committee. The programs and activities of NCHE incur a significant cost. NCHE is able to keep the costs to its members reasonable through the support of our corporate sponsors.
Mentoring Bureau. The NCHE Mentoring Bureau is a newly chartered committee in 2009. The Mentoring Bureau will organize and manage an informal mentoring program that will be available to ACHE affiliates and student members who live or work in the Greater Washington, D.C. area, and who want to mentor others or to be mentored in the healthcare administration profession. The NCHE Mentoring Bureau is designed to establish and provide an informal network through which mentors and protégés can be matched and engage in such a mentoring relationship.
